Finding Valentine’s Day Romance On The Road
Every year on February 14th, cupid emerges from hiding and loads up his arrows, ready to strike romance on suspecting and oblivious individuals. Valentine’s Day celebrates love, romance, and everything heart-shaped, a tradition from the 1300s. Being on the road shouldn’t stop the romance, and there are plenty of ways truckers can celebrate love, whether your partner is with you or not.
Why Finding Romance On The Road Is Important
Valentine’s Day greetings date as far back as the Middle Ages, and few people are unaware of what time of year it is once the pink and red hearts start to appear everywhere we look. Love Day celebrations began to honor the legend of St. Valentine, but whatever the actual reason, we continue celebrating love every time February 14th rolls around. For truckers, maintaining traditions on the road is a great way to bridge the gap between home and work life. For couples who work on the road together, thinking about being romantic may not be every day since you spend every day with your partner anyway. It’s still nice to take a day to appreciate your significant other just a little more and remind them you love them.
Love gestures mean even more if you work on the road away from your partner. There are plenty of ways to show love this Valentine’s Day, whether you’re spending the holiday away from your partner or if they’re sitting right next to you. The level of romance you want to express is up to you; the spectrum is vast.
Be REALLY Romantic On The Road
Let’s face it: romance comes in all shapes and sizes, and some of us are more in tune with the language of love than others. For those operating on the high end of the spectrum, there isn’t much you wouldn’t do to show how much you love someone. If you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day on the road and want to max out the romance meter, consider some of the following options.
Write A Song Or Love Letter
Writing something from the heart in the form of a love letter or even a song is a unique way to convey what someone means to you. It may sound intimidating to write a song, but a flow chart can make things easier. You’ll be on your way to writing a hit for your partner that they’ll hear even with miles between you.

Jewelry With Romantic Meaning
Something shiny like jewelry is a go-to for Valentine’s Day. Take it a step further and boost the romance by getting specialized jewelry like an engraving. Get their name engraved, or think of a unique quote or inside joke that will put a smile on their face whenever they see it.
Romantic Valentine’s Day Food
If you haven’t already made a reservation and found a place to park the truck, dinner at a fancy restaurant may not be the best choice for on-the-road couples. Instead, think of food shaped like hearts to mimic a similar romantic feeling. Some pizza places make heart-shaped pizzas for Valentine’s Day.
Another option is getting your partner’s favorite food and shaping it into a heart, like tacos. Enjoying a romantic dinner with your significant other on the road is a benefit of driving with a partner, especially for owner-operator couples. If your love isn’t with you, try to order them something heart-shaped or romantic over the phone for delivery.

Bring SOME Romance On the Road
Even if you don’t win the prize for being the most romantic person, there are more subtle ways to show love that your partner will still appreciate.
Buy A Romantic Card For Valentine’s Day
Finding a Valentine’s Day greeting card is not difficult because they are sold just about anywhere. With today’s technology, you can even send digital cards with music and animation. They usually say something nice and gushy already, which means you don’t have to figure out what to write in them.
Heart Shaped Anything On Valentine’s Day
If you’re in a rush or not a creative romantic, plenty of places sell romance for Valentine’s Day. Walk into just about any store and be greeted with anything and everything heart-shaped. The easiest thing to do is pick your partner’s favorite candy, find it in heart form, and hit the road again. They’ll praise your romantic side and maybe even share some candy with you. Chocolate-covered strawberries are also a Valentine’s Day staple; you can find them anywhere this time of year, probably even at your local grocery store.
Romance is in the air this February 14th, and even if you’re on the road, there are ways to show your partner you care. From small gestures to grand displays, the level of romance is up to you.
