Best Truck Stops in Arizona

Truck stops have been around since truckers started on the long haul. They began as places for truckers and drivers to pull into after many hours of driving to refuel, enjoy a hot meal, and maybe even a hot shower. Some truck stops stayed traditional, where the usual truckers would sit in their usual booths at the diner and talk to their usual fellow drivers. Other stops have evolved into larger travel centers catering to all drivers looking for a home away from home while on the road.

With so many truck stops across America, finding the best is challenging, so we’re going state by state to find some winners. We started with the best truck stops in Alabama, and we’re on the road again, this time checking out truck stops in Arizona. Combing through numerous locations, we found three truck stops that are some of the best the Grand Canyon State offers.

Best Truck Stops in Arizona: Tucson Truck Terminal

Driving down the I10 in Tucson, the Triple T’s of the Tucson Truck Terminal is hard to miss. This truck stop has kept its nostalgic charm since it opened in the 1950s. Unlike larger chains like Pilot Truck Stop, Triple T prides itself on being one of America’s few independently owned truck stops. The highlight of Triple T’s is Omar’s Hi-way Chef Restaurant which features table seating and counter space for lone truckers looking for a quick bite. Omar’s is much more than something to fill your belly quickly; one taste of their deep dish pies will make you plan future trips around this location. This truck stop also includes motel accommodations, a 24-hour travel center, a truck shop, and a beauty/barber shop. Keep the memory alive by finding a trinket at Sallie Sue’s Gift Shop before the call of the road returns.

Best Truck Stops in Arizona: Little America Travel Center

The Little America Travel Center, located in Flagstaff, Arizona, has been hosting weary travelers since 1952. Catering to both road trippers and professional drivers, Little America has just about everything you need when making a pit stop from a long ride. With a dreamy location in 500 acres of Ponderosa Pine forest, nature will be at your doorstep whether you’re just there for a quick bite and a fuel up or staying the night. If you have time for an overnight stay, the hotel at Little America offers special driver room rates with valid CDL. Although many truckers have sleeping spaces in their trucks, having a private room with a comfortable bed and shower can benefit them physically and mentally, especially after many nights on the road. Little America also features private showers without having to rent a room, a 24-hour convenience store, and the Rocky Mountain Truck Center, available to service your truck if necessary. Dining options are also abundant, and with the Silver Pine Restaurant and Bar and the Travel Center Hot Grill & Deli, Little America might be finding its way onto the following list of truck stops with the best food.

Best Truck Stops in Arizona: Bowlin’s “The Thing” Travel Center

Technically, Bowlin’s Travel Center was founded in New Mexico and might be better reserved for that state list. However, the location in Benson, Arizona, might be the most interesting one and deserves mention. The Bowlin family has been catering to travelers for over 100 years and keeps Native American traditions alive with many accessories and artifacts from Navajo artisans. Bowlin’s location in Benson is similar to other truck stops like the Iowa 80 Truck Stop, where it doesn’t only offer the usual amenities but entertainment as well. The “mystery of the desert” features a museum displaying all things weird with circus vibes which may be more of a tourist destination than a truck stop. Still, it does offer the usual necessities when resting from a long haul, and a side of entertainment doesn’t hurt. A switch from a typical truck stop might be a breath of fresh air, so don’t skip out on the weird and unusual and follow the billboards to see “The Thing.”
