Fall Changes Facing Drivers
Fall has officially started and will continue until December when winter comes knocking. While some places start feeling the chill of fall sooner, the rest of us are still ringing out the last couple drips of summer. For drivers working the road, knowing what’s coming during each season will help make for an easier transition from one to the other. Although fall may bring salvation from the hot summer months, the chilling weather, looming flu season, and holidays may bring obstacles for drivers.
Fall Weather Changes Facing Drivers
Weather changes take place in the fall as the days get colder, and the roads get covered by leaves. During the summer, the main concern drivers face is heat, which brings its own difficulties. Going from escaping the heat to finding ways to stay warm is a transition drivers will face. Fall brings rain, wind, and shedding trees, which can be a nuisance at times. The weather can be very unpredictable in the coming months, so making sure your truck is in tip-top shape will be crucial in case of unexpected rain or other hazards like heavy fog.

The falling leaves of autumn are a beautiful sight that signals our passage into the “ber” months. Be wary of leaf-covered roads, however, because wet leaves can cause a slick road. If you must drive on a leaf-covered road, be cautious of what they might be hiding underneath, which can be potholes or other road hazards.
Drivers Facing Fall Immune System Challenges
Flu season happens in the fall, and with school starting and the weather cooling, we will need more than just sanitizer to keep the germs from infiltrating our domain. For drivers, getting sick on the road will make for an uncomfortable journey. Vitamins that help prevent and shorten flus and colds come in various forms, from pills and effervescent tablets to gummies. They don’t have to be just for kids; they make gummy vitamins for adults as well.

Vitamin C is always the go-to when attempting to prevent or shorten colds and flus, but other vitamins help as well. Look to treatments that contain zinc and magnesium as well, which also aid in fighting germs that make us sick. For herbal remedies, turn to elderberry products, which boost the immune system.
Drivers Facing Fall Holiday Traffic
The first holiday we can expect during autumn is Halloween. Trick or treating, parades, and parties make this time traffic-heavy. Being vigilant while driving on Halloween may be the most important because there are children around, many of them trick-or-treating around neighborhoods and even businesses.

Day of the Dead follows Halloween and features parades displaying the beautiful culture. Navigating through areas holding parades may be a nuisance, so check local news for cities you’ll be driving through to see if any road closures are taking place. Thanksgiving is also coming in the fall, and although Thanksgiving Day usually doesn’t have much traffic, the days leading up to it will be crowded as people are traveling for the holiday.
Being knowledgeable and having a plan in place that changes as the seasons do will ensure those working the road aren’t surprised by much. Check weather reports and road closures before heading out on a job.
