5 Most Beautiful Bridges in the United States

These are some of the most impressive bridges in the United States of America and they are considered to be amazing engineering achievements.

1. Arizona: Glen Canyon Dam Bridge

In 1965, construction began on the Glen Canyon Dam. Soaring 700 feet (213m) above the water below, the bridge allowed for materials to be transported across the canyon while the dam was being built.

2. Alabama: Edmund Pettus Bridge

This bridge is a pivotal stop on the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail, and has gone down in history as the scene of ‘Bloody Sunday’.

3.Alaska: Hurricane Gulch Bridge

The hair-raising Hurricane Gulch Bridge rises some 296 feet (90m) above the Hurricane Creek in southern Alaska and spreads out for a whopping 918 feet (85m), making it the longest and tallest bridge on the Alaska Railroad.

4. California: Golden Gate Bridge

Perhaps the most famous in America, this epic San Francisco bridge soars over the waters of the Golden Gate strait. It stretches for 1.7 miles (2.7km) and was the world’s longest and tallest suspension bridge when first completed in 1937.

5. Florida: Sunshine Skyway Bridge

From a distance, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge looks like a group of billowing sails. The bridge, which spans the city of Tampa Bay, is a whopping 21,877 feet long.
